fills, it will be posted on this page. If a class is full, email us so we can put your child on the waitlist. If the class
is full, it is extremely hard to schedule make ups since we don't want more than the limit so everyone has a good tennis experience. If
you have registered and must cancel and it is 10 days or sooner before the drill begins a $25 administrative fee will
be taken. If it is 5 days or less, refunds will not be given. We can always credit you to do another session. If
you have a group of adults or kids and want to schedule your own private/semi-private lesson email us to schedule. (rates
are below)
Sorry, there is no pro-rating of the session fees nor make-ups for missed drills.
Remember to bring water as the fountain there may not be working. It is also recommended that a hat be worn.
RAIN: If the weather is questionable, contact Justin at 470-6252. If we have a rain day,
it is made up the week following the session, same day and time (except for session 3). If a drill is at least 1/2 done,
there is no make-up. Drills can be done if it is just sprinkling. When it rains so much that the courts have puddles then
we cancel.

Our instructors have completed the Recreational Coaches and QuickStart Training Workshops and have been
trained in the "Rally/Games" based approach to tennis teaching by Greg Hiers.
Our drills are taught based on the "Quick Start" and "Games Approach" method
of teaching, learning how to PLAY first then fine-tuning stroke technique second. This is the model the USPTA and USTA endorse
to keep kids having fun and wanting to come back. I center our drills for the younger "stars" around developing
the ability to RALLY. Very short, slow swings are encouraged to accomplish this from first over the center service lines ("Two-Square
Tennis") then over the net from the service line ("Mini-Tennis"), and finally from the baseline. We do not
spend all of our time feeding balls to those standing in line, trying to develop perfect-looking strokes. This simply is not
practical if the goal again is to develop the ability to PLAY the game. Once they can rally from the baseline, stroke development
begins to be emphasized. As parents, you can help by getting your kids on the court with the primary goal of being able
to hit the ball back and forth. Do not worry so much about what the strokes look like (limit the coaching to correct technique)
so long as they can keep a rally going. Emphasize short and slow swings with quick feet. Over time the strokes will begin
to look more like the ones you see on TV!!

Greg and Joele interviewed many
qualified instructors for the program this year. We are very excited about our final decisions! The following is some
information about them:
Spring Session Instructor: Kelsey Eatherton
Kelsey currently is a junior
at Hamline University where she plays number one singles and number one doubles for their tennis team. She has been
playing tennis since she was ten years old and attended Spring Lake Park High School where she played number one singles all
four years. Kelsey received All-Conference three years in a row and was also named captain her senior year. At
Hamline Kelsey was named All-Conference her sophomore year for a 7-3 record at number 3 singles. She is currently studying
communications and psychology and hopes to pursue a career in jury consulting after attending graduate school. She enjoys
spending time with her friends and family and being able to play as much tennis as possible!
Summer Sessions Instructor:
Justin Anderson Justin, born and raised
in the North Suburbs of St Paul, loved tennis from an early age. In 2008 Justin began assisting with the Beginner class at
LifeTime Fitness in White Bear Lake. Working there earned him a spot running his own beginner classes and working with higher
levels. Playing high school tennis at Mounds View, Justin went to two team state high school tournaments taking 2nd
and 3rd, and went to one individual state high school tournament, making it to the quarterfinals. He was Captain his senior
year. When he left for his freshment year of college at UMD in September of 2009, he began teaching at Arrowhead Tennis
and Athletic Center, where he works with all ages. Eventually, working his way up the tennis food chain, he became the coordinator
of the Junior Tennis program. Now, Justin looks forward to his involvement in the Liberty Tennis program this summer!
